Joan of Arc?
Jeanne who?

We initially thought: who would still know Joan of Arc? And if we get past the stake, what's left?

Sanderijn Helsen brainstormed with 65 young people about Joan of Arc during a residency in our workplace HET LAB. They also eagerly reflected on Jeanne's heroic journey: from the magical visions to her first triumph in Orleans, to the process that led to the stake.

The young people admire her drive and find her stubbornness tough and relevant. Her decisiveness - which they link to Greta Thunberg and Acid - inspires them: they think that teenagers today could use a little more of Jeanne's fire.

Together with musicians Leen Diependaele and Fiona Brown, Sanderijn Helsen presents the story of Joan of Arc as a theatre concert, fueled by young ideas, swaying on beats, spoken word, visuals, polyphonic singing, electronic and acoustic instruments and... a lot of fire.
